Medical Services in Covington

With the medical division of our clinic, we want to provide patients with the fantastic results traditional medical treatments provide, but also greatly minimize the side effects. And when possible, use more natural substances that are used in many European countries and elsewhere. We ultimately want to address the root cause of the issue, and not just cover up symptoms. Below are some of the therapies and treatments we provide.

Trigger Point Injections

Trigger points are knots of muscle that are created when muscles cannot relax. It is possible to feel these knots under the skin. Trigger Points usually irritate the nerves around them and cause a pain that is felt in another part of the body, known as a referred pain. Trigger point injections are used to help relieve pain associated with neck pain, back pain, low back pain, sciatica and headaches to name a few. Most trigger point injections performed in clinics utilize corticosteroids to reduce pain. The corticosteroids reduce the inflammation in the effected tissues, which reduces the pain. However, corticosteroids also have a side effect of causing scar tissue and adhesions in the injected soft tissue. Scar tissue and adhesions can ultimate alter the function of the tissues and create additional problems long term.

SARAPIN® is a plant derived natural substance that we utilize when doing trigger point injections. It gives pain relief, but does not create scar tissue and adhesions in the tissues. SARAPIN® has been used safely and effectively for pain management by physicians for over 70 years, is harmless, and has had no adverse events associated with it in it’s 70 year history. You can learn more about SARAPIN® at the website www.sarapin.com

Natural Joint Injections

In our practice, we understand that Americans no longer want to take harsh medications that have side effects for arthritic joint pain. That’s why we focus on substances called SUPARTZ FX™ for arthritic knees, and SARAPIN® for other arthritic and painful joints. Both have amazing results, with little or no side effects. SUPARTZ FX™ works on the knee joint by injecting a substance called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is what produces the synovial fluid, or lubrication, in your knee. By injecting SUPARTZ FX™, you establish the normal lubrication of your knee prior to having arthritis. The patient is therefore provided pain relief by bringing down the inflammation in the knee. SARAPIN® is a substance we utilize for pain in other joints of the body. SARAPIN® is a plant derived natural substance that we utilize when doing joint injections into the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, ankles, and feet. It gives pain relief, but does not create scar tissue and adhesions in the soft tissues of these joints. SARAPIN® has been used safely and effectively for pain management by physicians for over 70 years, is harmless, and has had no adverse events associated with it in it’s 70 year history. Non-Surgical Neurostimulator

Chronic and severe pain can really disrupt a patient’s life! Traditional medical interventions of prescription pain killers can have adverse effects on the liver and digestive tract, have other side effects, and can also have addictive tendencies. For chronic pain patients, and several other conditions, we utilize a non-surgical and drugless approach when other therapies and treatments have failed to provide relief. The neurostimulator stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system via the Vagus cranial nerve. This is done through a specific location on the ear. The device is worn for a 14 day time period, for a series of 1 to 3 treatments. Not only does it give relief from symptoms while the device is being worn, but it also produces prolonged relief after the device is removed. The following conditions have been shown to have successful treatment with the non-surgical neurostimulator when other treatments have failed:

  • Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
  • Chronic Back & Neck Pain
  • Sciatica
  • Diabetic Neuropathies
  • Chronic Arthritis Pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Post-Operative Pain
  • Post Cancer Treatment Pain
  • Shingles
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Various Other Neuropathies
